INTRODUCTION



The media is a powerful presence in people’s lives. Within the field of communication, media is the term used to refer to the particular medium used to deliver a message to a large, anonymous, diverse audience [6]. Media studies involve research on media effects, which refer to the influence that the media has on audiences, and media representations, which are portrayals of various cultural groups. At the core of social construction is the idea that there is no such thing as objective reality [7]. Instead, scholars who advocate for this foundation stress that all knowledge is historically and culturally specific [1]. Media, as a powerful social and cultural system, plays an important role in creating a person’s sense of reality [3].
The topicality of the theme is determined by the necessity of description of the interaction of media and culture in our life and may provide material for lectures of cultural studies of the English language.
The aim of the investigation is to analyze the interaction of media and culture taking into account different definitions, compare and contrast the result of investigation in order to discover differences and similarities.
Achieving this aim involves the following objectives:
1. To introduce concepts, issues and critical approaches involved in the study of media;
2. To highlight the social theory of media;
3. To show the interaction of media and culture.
The object of the research is media and culture in general.
The investigation subject is presented by explanation of the interaction of media and culture.
The methods used in the research: theoretical - theoretical analysis and synthesis of scientific, critical literature on the research topic to determine the theoretical methods (method of analysis and synthesis), justification of the conceptual apparatus of the research work (abstraction and generalization).
The theoretical and practical value of the research is that it can be used as further work on this topic, lectures of cultural studies of the English language, as well as the basic material for research and thesis works.
The research paper structure consists of introduction, body, conclusion and bibliography.

Rapid development of information and communication technologies such as media, causing rapid changes occur everywhere. The media gradually bringing in community into a new cultural patterns and begin to determine the cultural mindset and people’s behaviour. Without realizing the media have helped set the schedule of our lives and create a number of needs. Existence of mass media in presenting the information tends to trigger a change and an impact on determining the pattern of community life and culture in general. Slowly but effectively, the media shape public views on how a person sees his own and how one should relate to the everyday world.
Culture in the broadest sense is a form of highly participatory activity, in which people create their societies and identities. Culture shapes individuals, drawing out and cultivating their potentialities and capacities for speech, action, and creativity. Media culture is also involved in these processes, yet it is something new in the human adventure. Individuals spend tremendous amounts of time listening to the radio, watching television, going to see films, experiencing music, going shopping, reading magazines and newspapers, and participating in these and other forms of media culture. Thus, media has come to dominate everyday life, serving as the ubiquitous background and often the highly seductive foreground of our attention and activity, which many argue is undermining human potentiality and creativity.
So media are the means for bringing different cultures together. The media play significant roles in the development of cultural unity and these terms (media and culture) are interdependent.
